Multiple vehicle elements have been moving at Starbase this week, with new tooling arriving that will support near-term flights and longer-term expansion of Starship operations.

What Happened

Ship 43's nosecone left the Starfactory and arrived at Mega Bay 2, where it will be prepared for stacking. The forward dome and PEZ/payload dispenser were also moved into the bay to join the nosecone. Ship 42 received its second aft flap and is expected to roll to Massey's for cryogenic testing soon, possibly becoming Flight 15. Ship 41 has returned to the production site after completing its static fire campaign at Massey's for remaining pre-launch checks including heat-shield work and flight termination system installation.

Booster 21 is set to undergo static fire testing at Pad 2 this week. Booster 22 sits fully stacked inside Mega Bay 1 and could begin cryogenic testing at Massey's by early to mid-September. Booster 23 has four of its ten sections stacked, with A3 and A4 moved into position this week.

New ground-support hardware arrived in the form of an aft section for a booster horizontal break-over jig inside Mega Bay 2. The jig will allow vertical boosters to be rotated horizontally for marine transport to the Cape aboard Marmac 31. Meanwhile, construction on the Gigabay facility is complete and initial bridge crane sections have been delivered for assembling Starship stages vertically.

Why It Matters

The combination of active vehicle preparation and infrastructure development signals SpaceX is simultaneously clearing hardware for upcoming flights while building capacity for a higher launch cadence. The horizontal break-over jig specifically indicates cross-country booster transfers to the Cape are moving closer to reality, which would expand operational flexibility beyond Boca Chica testing alone.

The Bottom Line

Progress on Ships 41, 42, and 43, stacking of Boosters 22 and 23, arrival of the break-over jig, and completion of Gigabay construction paint a picture of Starbase clearing near-term flight hardware while laying groundwork for significantly increased production capability.
